This is NOT done by me!
I was recently at an exhibit in Cedar Rapids of WWI era letters and forged money.
This particular one struck me as an "artist" because it is a watercolor, obviously of an Easter Theme. The really interesting thing is this was sent into a concentration camp where depictions of holidays were forbidden. This is something someone hand painted and sent to a loved one that may or may not have lived past 1945 (end of WWII).
This card was sent in 1944 right at the peak of the killing years for the Nazi Party. People died and killed throughout the war, but the real mass killing took place from 1942(ish)-1945.
This was sent to Auschwitz, and if you know even a little you know that this was a terrible place where to many people lost their lives at the hands of some brutal people. It just strikes me that these two little hand painted Easter Eggs might have made someone smile and feel loved in an otherwise brutal time in their lives!
This just struck me and I thought I would share it with people.
